Lively and entertaining, Clave Gringa comes to North City Bistro with two horns (Daniel Barry on trumpet and Nathaniel Schleimer on tenor sax and flute), phenomenal percussionist Willie Garza, new star bassist Julian Weisman, and the leader pianist and vocalist Ann Reynolds. The band will take you on a journey through Cuban music from the classically oriented danzon and cha-cha-cha styles to the African folkloric sounds and rumba. You won’t be able to sit still! The Ann Reynolds Trio (Ann Reynolds-piano; Kelsey Mines-bass; Christopher Icasiano-drums) presents Ann's compositions honoring 4 women composers (Mary Lou Williams, Carla Bley, Geri Allen, Christine Jensen) and compositions by each composer. The award-winning trio works interactively to interpret this music. Included in the presentation is a brief historical and musical introduction about each woman composer.
